Day three of being in the Philippines and the first day in school.
Today we finally went to visit our sister school, Miriam College Nuvali (MCN)! After meeting the Administration and having orientation, our students finally met their buddies who were the same five students that came to our school in the first term!
Today and the following two days are the “Sports Intramurals” - a three day Sports Festival where the whole school has various games divided by four House colors.
In the beginning, the students were given a tour of the school by their buddies. They then watched the boys volleyball team games and were divided into their respective House colors - the same colors as their buddies’.
After a light snack of traditional sticky rice delicacies, they watched more of the different games and spent time with their buddies. They even were able to enjoy the special food stalls available for the Intramurals and had some takoyaki as well as fries and chicken.
It was then time for lunch where they were able to try Adobo, Lumpia and the dessert, Halo-Halo.
As MCN is a Catholic school, the students were able to experience a different type of school life and were intrigued by the lunchtime prayer announcements where the whole school stopped to stand and pray.
In the afternoon, it was time for our students to join the games as the “Japan team” with their buddies and took part in the Hula Hoop Race (they won first place!!) and the Sack Race (they came third out of five teams). This experience gave them the chance to warm up and talk to more of the MCN students, expanding their friend circles!
After a full day at school, socializing and making new friends, the Administrators took us to dinner at a very special restaurant where you can see the famous volcano, Taal, and enjoy more Filipino dishes. Thank you so much to the MCN staff and students for making this day a very fulfilling one, so much so that our students already want to extend their trip!
