【国際交流】ブータン交換留学①

私たちは深夜、羽田空港からパロ空港行きの便で出発しました。バンコクとバグドグラでの2回の経由を経て、全員無事にブータンへ到着しました。生徒たちは旅の疲れも見せていましたが、これから始まる観光への期待に胸を躍らせていました。
空港では、ペルキル・スクール（Pelkhil School）のガイドさんとバスの運転手さんに出迎えられ、歓迎の印として伝統的なスカーフを贈呈していただきました。のどかな田園風景を眺めながら少し移動し、ティンプーにある「タラ・フェンデイリン・ホテル（Tara Phendeyling Hotel）」に到着しました。そこで片山さんと合流し、数時間の休憩と昼食をとった後、再び出発しました。
最初に訪れたのは、「ブッダ・ドルデンマ（Buddha Dordenma）」として知られる巨大な仏像です。修復中ではありましたが、その景色と仏像自体のスケールの大きさは美しく、印象深いものでした。そこから、「ナショナル・メモリアル・チョルテン（National Memorial Chorten）」という仏教寺院へと向かいました。生徒たちは、マニ車を回したり、時計回りにチョルテンの周りを歩いたりといった仏教の儀式を体験し、楽しんでいました。最後に「タシチョ・ゾン（Tashichho Dzong）」を訪れようとしました。見学時間に関する手違いはありましたが、生徒たちは国旗降納の儀式を目にすることができました。翌朝、改めて正式に見学するために再訪することになりました。
ホテルに戻った後は、翌朝までそれぞれのペースでリラックスし、夕食を楽しみました。全体として、この日は順調に進み、生徒たちはブータンの文化を学び、体験する時間を満喫しました！
September 5th
We departed from Haneda airport on a flight bound for Paro Airport at midnight. After two layovers in Bangkok and Bagdogra we all arrived safely in Bhutan. The students were tired but excited to spend the day sightseeing.
At the airport we met our guide and bus driver from Pelkhil School and were presented with traditional scarves to welcome us. After a short journey that afforded us the opportunity to see some of the countryside, we arrived at the Tara Phendeyling Hotel in Thimpu. There we met Ms. Katayama, and rested for a couple of hours and enjoyed lunch before heading out again.
First we visited a large statue known as Buddha Dordenma. It was under repair but the scenery and scale of the statue itself were beautiful and memorable. From there we continued onward towards a Buddhist temple called the National Memorial Chorten. The students enjoyed participating in the Buddhist rituals of spinning the prayer wheels and walking clockwise around the memorial. Finally, we attempted to visit the Taschichho Dzong. There was a miscommunication about the visiting hours but the students were able to witness the ceremonial retiring of the national flag. We were informed that we would be returning there tomorrow morning for a proper visit.
Upon returning to the hotel, the students relaxed and enjoyed dinner at their own pace until the following morning. Overall, the day went smoothly and the students enjoyed learning and seeing Bhutanese culture!
